In my work I take source imagery and lightly abstract it, juxtaposing colors and brushstrokes to create interesting moments across the canvas. I want the viewer to find recognizable objects, but not ignore the physicality of the brushstrokes and visual stimulation of the colors. In the above series of work I am interested in the beauty found in the overlooked and ignored backgrounds of life. This painting was made from source imagery of a construction site, shortly after a building was knocked down.
